The Soul of the Southern Worker

    Surviving the Southern Struggle

'BLUEBIRD VICTORY'

As the first cohort of the Advancing Black Strategists Initiative through Jobs with Justice and the United Steelworkers, Nichel Dunlap-Thompson's legacy will be remembered as, 'the lady who prayed'!

Ask the workers of BLUEBIRD how they felt in the end to be covered by a thunderous, anointed prayer prior the polls?

Labor and Faith has strategically intersected the efforts of workers and communities for years. The south especially has strong religious roots that have played a vital role in the life of the African American worker. The 'Word of God' has sustained people of color during slavery, Jim Crow and the recent attacks by the right! In this next season it will require more from all of us as we gear up for the next round of battle; the 2024 election year!

Amos 8:4-6' Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make poor of the land to fail, Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

Nichel's Message to the Labor Movement

Spiritual Synergy

The USW's exemplary organizing skills combined with prayer!

After shots were fired that dreadful day of April 4, 2023, Sanitation Workers were reminded of Dr. King's words, "We've got to give ourselves to this struggle until the end.  Nothing would be more tragic than to stop at this point in Memphis."

It has become my life's mission to revitalize(mobilize/motivate/encourage) all WORKERS who were stopped in Memphis on that tragic day.  With Dr. King's death, a huge piece of the labor movement vanished in the South.  I am here to resurrect it through the Word of GOD - which resonates louder than any word spoken by man.

As religious leadership is highly influential, their messages outweigh that of politicians any day.  Thus, candidates flock to the House of GOD to gain the Christian vote - especially during election seasons.

Forward Through Faith is exactly "The Future We Need" by reimplementing faith as a vehicle to promote and to support campaigns that have lost their fire for organizing in the south!

How can your network, organization and or organizing drives benefit from the power of Nichel's prayers and infectious energy for mankind?
